If an error has occurred and a child's profile has been linked to the incorrect parent then these are the steps that need to be take to re-establish the link to the correct parent profile.

1 Make sure you keep a copy of the incorrectly linked parent details as a backup

2 Add Correct parent details in the non-user parent detail to the child's profile with the correct data (you will override the current details)

3 Switch primary point of contact to the new non-user parent that was added in step 2

4 update the new non-user parent with correct details for the child's profile

5 Make sure that the incorrectly linked parent details are correct for their own application.
